Animayo was born in 2006 in Spain, directed by the Spanish director and producer Damián Perea. The festival is currently a benchmark in the field of animation, with 17 years of positioning. It is an inspirational and motivational event, with 75% of training content aimed at promoting creative development and audiovisual production.

With face-to-face and online formats, it develops actions in the field of animation, visual effects, virtual reality, video games and new audiovisual technologies. From Gran Canaria (Spain), it extends its programming to other cities and countries, in its "Animayo Itinerante" version, developed in Los Angeles, Madrid, Barcelona, Lanzarote, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Brussels, Chicago, Mumbai, Prague, Colombia, Belgrade or Korea.
