FALLING has been changed to AIKĀNE

After much consideration, we’ve decided to change the title of our new animated short film to Aikāne: a Hawaiian term of respect for intimate and trusted friends of the same sex.

With all the negativity that the world has been directing at LGBTQ+ people recently, we want viewers to understand that this story is inspired by a people and culture that holds a place of honor for queer people.  Using Aikāne as the title also connects the film to our previous animated short Kapaemahu, a Hawaiian word whose meaning conveys respect for the gender fluid heroes at the heart of its story, and honors the place that we are fortunate to call home and inspires so much of our work.
